How Acupuncture Works During IVF, IUI, and Egg Freezing

Welcome to the Fertility Series from South Shore Acupuncture and Wellness. Over twelve weeks, we are walking through the fertility and pregnancy situations we see most in the clinic, Wherever you are in the process, there is likely a chapter here for you. Begin at the start, or jump to what you need most. Check out the master post.

If you are preparing for IVF, IUI, or egg freezing, you may already be wondering what your body needs before treatment begins and how to move through the process in a way that feels less overwhelming.

Fertility treatment with Assisted Reproductive Technologies is powerful, and it asks a lot from the body in a short period of time. Stimulation medications, monitoring, trigger timing, retrieval, transfer, progesterone support, and the wait that follows all place real demands on the nervous system and the reproductive environment. Even when the medical plan is clear, the body still has to respond to each part of the process.

IVF and IUI ask a lot from the body and from the relationship. Getting to the other side of treatment starts with going into it as supported as possible.

At South Shore Acupuncture and Wellness, we use acupuncture as part of that process. Your treatment plan changes depending on where you are in the cycle, what medications your body is responding to, how your lining and follicles are developing, and what kind of support makes sense before IUI, retrieval, transfer, or the luteal phase. This is not one generic fertility treatment repeated every week. It is care that follows the physiology of the cycle as it changes.

Before a cycle begins, we focus on the conditions the body is bringing into treatment. That includes pelvic blood flow, ovarian response, endometrial development, inflammation, sleep, stress physiology, cycle quality, and the hormonal picture surrounding the cycle. Estrogen patterns, progesterone support, follicular development, and the way the body responds under pressure all shape how someone moves through IVF, IUI, or egg freezing.

Once treatment is underway, the treatment follows the physiology of the cycle. During stimulation, treatment is focused on blood flow, regulation, and how the body is responding to medication. Around IUI or embryo transfer, care shifts toward uterine receptivity, implantation environment, and keeping the nervous system regulated through a high stakes part of the process. After transfer or insemination, treatment moves into luteal phase support and early pregnancy support when conception happens.

A protocol can be medically well designed and still ask a lot from the body moving through it. At South Shore Acupuncture and Wellness in Rockland, fertility support is personalized from the beginning, with care that changes as your body changes through each stage of IVF, IUI, or egg freezing. If you are preparing for a cycle and want to understand what support makes sense for where you are, that conversation is a good place to start
