Acupuncture for EDS, MCAS and POTS in Rockland, MA

If you have one of these, there is a good chance you have all three. Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, mast cell activation syndrome and POTS show up together so often that specialists call them the trifecta. Most patients spend years being told it is anxiety, IBS, fibromyalgia or growing pains before anyone puts the picture together.

We treat all three at our Rockland clinic, and we treat them together, because your body does not experience them separately.

Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS)

EDS pain is joint pain, muscle pain from muscles working overtime to hold loose joints together, and nerve pain. We treat:

  • Chronic joint and muscle pain

  • Pain after subluxations and dislocations

  • Muscle guarding and spasm

  • Headaches and neck pain, including craniocervical symptoms

  • TMJ and jaw pain

  • Fatigue

Treatment for hypermobile patients is different. We use fewer needles, gentler technique and careful positioning so we never push a joint past where it should go.

Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS)

MCAS is called the great masquerader because it hides behind so many other labels: allergies, IBS, anxiety, chronic hives, migraines. We treat:

  • Flushing, hives and itching

  • GI symptoms: cramping, bloating, reactions to food

  • Brain fog and fatigue

  • Anxiety and a nervous system stuck on high alert

  • Headaches

We keep the treatment room low-trigger and start gently, because a reactive body needs to be met where it is.

POTS

POTS means your heart races when you stand, and your body struggles to regulate blood pressure and circulation. We treat:

  • Dizziness and lightheadedness

  • Racing heart and palpitations

  • Fatigue and exercise intolerance

  • Brain fog

  • Cold hands and feet, poor circulation

  • Nausea and GI symptoms

Will acupuncture make my symptoms flare?

We plan for that from the start. First treatments are short and gentle, and we check how you felt in the 48 hours afterward before deciding the next step. You set the pace.

Do I need a diagnosis?

No. Many of our patients arrive suspecting EDS, MCAS or POTS without a formal diagnosis. We treat the symptoms in front of us.

Who treats me?

You are treated by a Massachusetts Licensed Acupuncturist who specializes in complex chronic conditions, including EDS, MCAS, POTS and fibromyalgia. Patients come to us from across the South Shore and beyond, because so few clinics treat these conditions with this level of specificity.
